I love visiting charming New England seaside towns during the off season, and a few days stay in Rockport, Massachusetts didn’t disappoint. Seriously, by taking a wintertime visit to Cape Ann you can truly appreciate quintessential New England without the crowds. The highlights of a girls’ getaway with my sister were soaking up the natural beauty of the coast on a relaxed timeline. We enjoyed up the harborside area of Rockport on foot and explored Gloucester with short car-ride excursions.
Continue readingIt’s the truth. When I sleep at night, I often find my thoughts stray to adventures across the pond. It may be a slightly outdated version of London today, but the city I remember comes to life in my dreams. If I close my eyes, I can still vividly recall the nighttime city sounds when I lived there many years ago. How I long for my next visit.
Continue readingA seaside getaway always tops my summer to-do list and Mystic, CT and nearby shoreline areas checked off all the boxes and then some. There’s so much to do, we hardly made a dent in all that Mystic and the region has to offer. The plan for a summer getaway involves a laid-back itinerary: downtime on the beach, outdoor dining with water views (with lobster!) and finding accommodation what’s walkable to the action.
Continue readingIf you have a chance to visit Delray Beach, I highly recommend it, especially if you’re from a cooler clime like me where winter can seem forever long. My husband and I visited in February and we were blessed with five idyllic days of perfect weather. Delray Beach provides an excellent home base to explore Palm Beach County where there’s so much to do. You’ll fill out your itinerary in record time and start planning your next visit to the Gold Coast.
Continue readingSt. Maarten/St. Martin is my happy place that checks off many of my happiness goals! In this post, I will be sharing some of my favorite places and things to do on this two-nation island for a family vacation. This Caribbean destination has a unique following of devout visitors who consider the island their home away from home, returning year after year. While renting a car may not be necessary depending on where you stay, to get the best experience especially for your first trip, plan to rent a car for at least a few days to freely explore the island.
Continue readingThe North End in Boston, MA is always a favorite destination to wander around and absorb all the Italian neighborhood has to offer. Fortunately for me, it’s only a 75-minute-drive away! I especially like to arrive in midafternoon and stay through evening to witness the sights, sounds and local flavors as daylight transforms Boston’s oldest residential community to darkness.
Continue readingGetting away for summer weekends is always on top of my to-do list. Thanks to friends who shared their charming vacation condo in Killington, VT with us, we had the opportunity to unwind over the July 4th long weekend. It turned out even better than expected. Why? There was so much to do and relax and recharge with no hassle. No crowds, traffic or long waits.
Continue readingVacations have a way to provide perspective about your life and how you spend your time. My recent getaway on the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin gave me the pleasure to check off to-dos under my 2022 goals. Most significantly, I consider myself fortunate to cross off items under the Pure Joy/Fun and Adventure/Travel categories in my Commit30 planner. Allow me to elaborate briefly on three goals in this pictorial post.
