March into Spring Goals: Connect with Nature and Purge
The onset of spring totally defines spiritual health in my eyes because it gets me outdoors to connect with nature. I have already taken advantage of some unseasonably warm March days to walk outside, a happy change from the treadmill. I’m very fortunate that I can take in the beauty of a walk along a wooded path with lake views right from my doorstep.
Spring is also a time to refresh, which means activating my home goal: To begin the process to deeply purge and get better organized.
March is a transition month, teasing us by huddling between winter and spring. It is a perfect time to reflect and reset with its backdrop of hope to motivate me to assess what’s ahead. With the official start of spring, I’m excited to act on new goals as I continue tracking through journaling with my Commit30 planner.
Spiritual Power of Nature
There’s a profound pleasure of knowing what’s to come as the warm weather unfolds. With keen anticipation, I look forward to moving my dormant, wrapped fig trees from the garage when the time is just right. Tricky to grow in my climate, my figs were well-rooted shoots divided from my friend Nick’s mature trees. One even produced fruit last summer. Fingers crossed his green thumb rubs off on me.
Some of my spring bulbs are already poking through the soil in preparation of their colorful showing. My flower garden brings me such happiness. I know there will be text exchanges with two friends as we share images by of our flower gardens. It’s such an uplifting way to say hello, exchange a smile while sharing our personal contributions to nature.
I’ve been collecting seeds to pot leafy greens in deck containers for my smoothies (yay!). I also look forward to planning the herbs and cherry tomatoes that I’ll also grow in containers. Even though my edible gardening is limited to containers, it brings me great joy having fresh ingredients on hand straight from the pot!
I love the anticipation of spring. I’m inspired by a friend who posts stunning social media images from his imaginative garden to mark the countdown to spring. Each post makes me more hopeful for the longer and warmer days ahead filled with color as the world around me blooms.
Purge Is the Word for Home Organization
I started working on my home goal with some minor home refreshes, such as a new living room rug (see area rug find tip), and will continue doing this as I prepare my house for room reveals to highlight our paint colors with our interior refresh.
More important with spring in the air, however, is getting my house better organized. Sounds boring, right? My home is my sanctuary, and through a bit of effort, I can make it even better knowing exactly what’s inside drawers or behind closest doors.
Oh, the junk drawer, how I dread thee. Actually, there are a number of unruly drawers stashing (sometimes hiding!) too much this and that. This translates into some serious clutter clearing and purging. I have a list of areas to tackle first, so let’s see how far I get in the coming months.
Eventually, my plan is to move to bigger weekend projects including reorganizing and cleaning the basement utility room and garage, which I’ve scheduled in my journal for later this spring and summer. I promised hubby if I put these projects in my book, we’re committed to make it happen.
Personal Growth, Physical Health Continue
Allow me to do a quick update on my earlier goals. I continue aspiring to advance my personal growth by writing more through this blog. I’m trying to establish my groove, posting weekly (sometimes more) and trying out different topics that inspire me and hopefully you, my readers, also!
My physical health mantra is being active and eating healthy. I’ve made some adjustments after two months on Whole30. I’m now transitioning into the Mediterranean way of eating (check out this Facebook group) while also tracking my daily intake through the WW app. This is a useful plan that gives me the tools to be more accountable to myself. Not to mention, I’m enjoying the new PersonalPoints program and getting rewarded for eating non-starchy vegetables; it works out great with my morning smoothies!
Before I sign off, let me wish you all a wonderful spring. I hope this post will inspire you to set goals to enhance the season for you, too!
So motivating! Thanks for this uplifting post.
How did you like Whole30? I applaud you! That was probably a challenge to eat so clean but you’re probably feeling so good!
I do feel good! Whole30 helps identify foods that may be bothersome to you while removing junk and preservatives. I missed whole grains, so Mediterranean Diet works for me for the long term and is similar with eating real food.
I love this post! It makes you feel happy to be here in this moment! This is my favorite blog post so far…so uniquely you! Through your lens, you lead your readers to embrace the little things. Ah…the dreaded junk drawer! I love that.
Hard for me to picture your Hubby excited about purging in the garage and basement. Excited myself to grow something when the time comes!
Stephanie, I wouldn’t say he’s excited but he’s happy it’s a commitment on our to-do list!
Love. I’m going to miss our flowers at home this year. My beautiful Irises. Maybe you’ll have time to stop by sometime and pick a few for your table and send me a photo. I’m not sure how I’ll adjust to desert life. I guess we’ll see.
Susan, I’d be happy to share photos of your beautiful irises. The good part about your travels means seeing beauty in new places and experiences!
